Visual Principles

1)Roles that visuals play in instruction.
To provide a concentre referent for ideas. (Visuals serve as a more easily remembered link to the original idea)
To motivate learners (by attracting their attention, holding their attention and generating emotional responses).
To simplify the information that is difficult to understand.
To provide a redundant channel( when accompanying spoken or written verbal information they present that information in a different modality, giving some learners a chance to comprehend visually what they might miss verbally).

2)Visual literacy:
Visual literacy means reading and writing visuals.

3)2 general strategies that I may use to teach visual literacy.
Input strategies: Decoding(reading visuals)
Output strategies: Encoding( writing visuals)
I would use both of them. As for my students to understand clearly, they must read visuals properly and in the output strategy, my students will be on it so they could learn more easily as they re the people who create it.

Rogers, E. (1995). Diffusion of Innovations

  Getting a new idea adopted is often a long and difficult period. A common problem for many innovators is how to speed up the rate of this process. What makes diffusion of water boiling fail is, not knowing the client. We have to know what kind of person do we have. We have to understand them. Does our innovation enough to reach our client or does it supply their needs? Can we persuade them? If yes, how? Intensive effort must be needed. We must persuade them why they should boil their water. Why are we doing this? & nothing sells themselves even if they have obvious benefits. There are 4 main elements in the diffusion of innovations: innovation, communication channels, time, and the social system as we said in the definition of diffusion (diffusion is the process by which an innovation is communicated through certain channels over time among the members of a social system). İnnovation is an idea. There are five main steps in the innovation-decision process: knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, confirmation. As for the FATIH project first of all we have to know our students, their families and their needs. We have to be careful about innovation, communication channels, time and social system to be successful in the process. All of them must be decided carefully for the best diffusion.

  Ülkemizin bulunduğu durumu düşündüğümüzde FATİH projesi büyük bir adım fakat okullarda ne kadar uygulanabilmiş, ne kadar etkili olmuş sorgulanır. Eğitimdeki fırsatları arttırma, eşitlik sağlama çabası harika bir hareket ama böyle bir projeyi siyasete alet etmek etik olmamıştır. Teknolojinin amaç olarak değil araç olarak kullanılması gerekir. Projenin çok fazla eksiklerinin olduğunu düşünüyorum, daha geç başlanılıp daha doğru adımlar atılabilirdi. Çoğu önemli adım tasarım aşamasında ya da henüz somut bir hareketlilik bile yok. Projenin ihale bilgilerine kolayca erişememek, projenin gelişmesine ve eksiklerinin belirlenememesine sebep olmaktadır. Projenin etkili olabilmesinde en büyük sorumluluk öğretmene düşmektedir bunun için öğretmenlere bu alanda geniş bir vizyon kazandırılmalıdır.
